Suzana Basaric-Ilic
Flute, Piano Instructor
Suzana Basaric-Ilic is an experienced performance artist and music educator. A native of Bosnia and Herzegovina, she received her education in flute performance at the Conservatory of Music in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and at the Music Academy in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Her education continued in the United States, where she completed her Master’s degree in Education.
As a flautist of the Mostar Symphony Orchestra and a soloist in her native country, Mrs. Basaric-Ilic has performed in numerous concerts throughout Europe. Her teaching experience includes teaching at all levels from K-12 both internationally and in the U.S. In 2011, Mrs. Basaric-Ilic received Yale Distinguished Music Educator Award from the Yale School of Music. Her students have received many awards and recognitions as a result of her teaching success. Additionally, several of her students have become music educators themselves. Mrs. Basaric-Ilic has been on the SIFA faculty as flute and piano instructor since 1999. She also teaches at Potomac Elementary School (MCPS), an Arts Integrated Model School. Her goal is to motivate her students to continuously explore the beauty and power of music, creating a community of introspective and inquisitive learners.
