Slavica Ilic
Chamber Strings, Suzuki Viola, Suzuki Violin, Viola Instructor
Slavica Ilic is a graduate of the Sarajevo Music Academy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where she studied with David Kamhi. She was a member of the Sarajevo Opera, Philharmonic and Chamber Orchestra. Before moving to the USA, she also taught in Europe for a number of years. She has served on the faculty of SIFA since 1998. She is also on the faculty at International School of Music in Bethesda and formerly with DC Youth Orchestra.
Her experience and dedication in teaching earned her students numerous awards at competitions, juries and auditions in many of the youth Orchestras in Montgomery County Maryland and Virginia. In addition to several awards from string and chamber competitions, she was a recipient of the Fellowship Award for Aspen Music Music Festival. Ms. Ilic performed with many orchestras throughout Israel, Italy, former Yugoslavia, France and USA.
She is currently the principal 2nd violin in the Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic Orchestra. She has completed Suzuki training in Every Child Can, and Violin Units 1 – 6. Ms. Ilic continues with ongoing education by attending conferences and workshops.
