Leah Marie Peterson

Piano Instructor

Leah Marie Peterson is a well-rounded musician and passionate music educator. A native of Michigan, she obtained her Bachelor of Music in Instrumental Music Education from Hope College in Holland, MI and recently received a Master of Arts in Communication from American University in Washington, D.C. In addition to teaching private lessons, she has worked as a General Music and Chorus teacher in Fairfax County Public Schools since 2015.

Ms. Peterson has performed in a wide variety of contexts on both flute and piano, including chamber music, solo performance, accompaniment, wind ensembles, community bands, symphony orchestras, and jazz ensemble. In her current position in FCPS, Ms. Peterson takes pride in producing musical theatre shows as a way to instill a love of the arts in her students. She also has a special interest in making music education accessible for children with autism and other people with unique learning needs.
