Jaime Guitz
Guitar, Piano Instructor
Jaime Guitz is an accomplished concert pianist and experienced teacher for students of all ages. Jaime is also an accomplished guitarist and guitar instructor currently accepting beginner guitar students. He received his B.A. in Music, a minor in jazz and his M.M. in Pedagogy of piano from George Mason University. Also, in his native country, Guatemala, he received his degree “Profesorado” in Music Education from “Universidad de San Carlos”, his “Bachiller en arte especializado en piano” from Guatemalan National Conservatory of Music He studied music courses at “Universidad del Valle,” and was also teaching in several music schools. He has served as Professor of Piano, Theory, Didactic and History of Music at the Central American Theological Seminary, and has also served on the faculties of The Alfredo Colom Christian School of Music Teachers, the Jesus Maria Alvarado National School of Music Teachers, the University of San Carlos, the National Conservatory of Music.
Currently he is serving on the faculty of the Sharyn Byer Institute of Fine Arts where he has taught for more than 18 years. He is also the piano accompanist at the 11:15 worship service here at Columbia Baptist Church.
